Mini Baler

Prior to installing this dock-level loading compactor, Underwood Meat Co. Ltd. were manually loading a 35 cu.yd. enclosed container with cardboard. This entailed transporting a cardboard laden pallet to ground level, and stacking the flattened boxes inside. Each full load collected weighed an estimated 1 tonne. Delays in having each load collected caused the company some problems when waste had to be stored inside, until an empty container was available.

Contaminated waste polythene was removed from site using conventional disposal methods. Due to the nature of the waste, very little weight was collected. In reality, the container was full of 'fresh air'

The issues were discussed with QED Waste Management Solutions, after which it was agreed to install the equipment. The results have been beneficial, with each cardboard being loaded directly from inside the building, and each full load weighing between 4.5 and 5 tonnes. Waste polythene is
being processed through the mini baler before being disposed of by conventional means. Each bale weight being kept to a limit which enables them to be lifted manually into the waste container. The maximum bale weight is usually up to 75kg. which requires a simple form of mechanical handling such as a sack-barrow or similar to transfer the bales.
